The performance of the Laboratory Spring project, based on The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky. A collaboration between the British High School of Design theatre design group and the SOTA new dance forms laboratory.
The stage for the performance was a 3-meter high installation with eight textile shirts forming a sacred circle surrounding a mound of earth. The shirts with tree branches inside pulsated like breathing lungs. The enchanted circle created by the shirts symbolised the spirit of spring’s emergence and the awakening of new life.
